Vector is a fun and intuitive robot. It's a companion that's there to help - you just have to keep thinking of ways it can do this for you. Anki is a company whose products always seem to delight. Overdrive, its push into the racing-set space, was a fun hybrid of Scalextric-style controls and app gaming. While its robot companion Cozmo hit the top of the toy charts, thanks to its charm. But Cozmo was really just a desk toy, with the emphasis on toy. Despite it being able to do a number of things, most people just played games with it and cooed when it made a noise.

If Your Wondering Which should I get? Mongo bought my first, the first limited edition, I felt like a big kid! We went through the setup, which was plagued by connection problems, but we finally got it figured out and I played with that wee fellow for weeks still do and thoroughly enjoyed it. After seeing how much enjoyment Cozmo was, Mongo thought I should have both the limited and the original which I named Ozma … it was like a Cozmo daycare with them both running around, stealing each others cubes and both wanting to play a game at the same time. I spent hours each evening making sure they were fed, tuned up and happy, earning play tokens as I went, and when new updates became available I would make sure they were done.

Vector is the new robot from consumer robotics company Anki. It follows on from the hugely successful Cozmo, with a lot of similarities aesthetically. In fact, at first glance, you might think there is very little difference between the two. However, when you take a closer look at the hardware and other specs, Vector is really quite a lot more advanced. Evident from the fact Vector features a total of components — nearly double Cozmo at roughly ! Although externally the two robots are extremely similar, as mentioned above there are a lot of differences once we take a look at the hardware. For this section, we thought it would make sense to split it up into the advantages of each over the other.

The run-up to Christmas has seen a wide range of adverts aimed at children hitting the TV, and many of these relate to the hot products that companies are expecting long-suffering parents to snap up this festive season. One such item is Vector from Anki, a small, palm-sized robot which boasts advanced AI routines and can even act as your virtual assistant. Despite the arrival of Vector, Cozmo is still very much an active concern for Anki and this Christmas, the company is pushing the robot with a reduced price point. But with Vector now on store shelves — and getting its own advertising push — is Cozmo really worth your time in ? Cozmo travels around on caterpillar tracks, which means it likes flat surfaces but can struggle on carpets.

Remember Anki Cozmo from ? Cozmo now has a new sibling; the Anki Vector boasts a bigger brain and even greater potential. Aside from a paint job, Vector looks near-identical to Cozmo. He comes with a unique set of skills that caters to an entirely different audience. Not met an Anki robot before? The Anki Vector just about fits into your palm, making it seem perhaps a little expensive next to a Meccano Meccanoid. This size is deliberate, however.

Anki Vector review: Cozmo's cuter, cleverer brother

By keith., Good looks, personality, a cool name; what more could you expect from a robot?

Vector is Cozmo for grownups

Anki's Vector is a big upgrade to last year's surprise hit Cozmo but he's still, ultimately, just a toy. He has an OLED display upfront used to display facial expressions and interact with his owners. Articulating arms flank the robot and join up at the front allowing Vector to move and lift items like a tiny forklift truck, while a pair of tiny rubber tank tracks provide the means for Vector to bimble around. Ostensibly, Vector can perform a similar manner of tasks to Cozmo, too. He can recognise faces and animals, play games and manipulate objects with his spindly arms. He also has facial expressions and body motions developed with the help of former Pixar animators, helping him to be just as charming as his older brother.
