Three episodes in a row of nonstop action and there are no signs of slowing down. Also, no sign of Negan. Or walkers, for the most part. Remember when this was a zombie show? Each week seems to test my restraint in not yelling at the screen when a character does something dumb in the name of do-gooding.

Friend turns against friend I love you, Ezekiel, but enough with the speeches already. They have the numbers, but we have the strategy! Once again, the storytelling could be more concise and not drawn out over multiple episodes, but at least here, there are some saving graces. After his surprise reemergence last episode, Morales notes how they both made the trip from Atlanta and ended up where they are now — one holding the other at gunpoint. Daryl is there to snap him back. Where are they going to keep them?

The Walking Dead spends a lot of time arguing about the place of humanity in the post-apocalyptic world. Not the place of human beings as a species, but the place of human beings as a concept. The old rules versus the new rules, ruthless efficiency versus charity, second chances versus preventing revenge, that kind of thing. Usually these take the form we saw last week, which was basically Tara and Jesus arguing until the charity case in question tried to hold Jesus hostage to make his escape. However, this week, Greg Nicotero and company have decided that this disagreement on what to do with prisoners in a world in which everyone is trying to kill everyone else should take the form of an actual fight between two characters who know martial arts. It's actually refreshing to see two people who aren't pegged as bad guys come to blows over a disagreement.

If The Walking Dead has fleetingly flirted with this very notion in several episodes from the fourth season onwards, this episode is entirely dedicated to it. Gone are the characters that once felt extreme guilt having to murder their adversaries - instead, in their minds, leaving 'no stone unturned' as it were, is a mandatory act. Rick refuses to accept this, almost pleading with his old friend to believe he's not like that.

Naturally, you won't hear me sing its praises without also offering up a few pointed criticisms. Let's talk about the bad first before getting to the parts I think were actually pretty decent. Probably the very worst part about this episode had to be Morales. After 'Monsters' I'm really not sure what the point was. Lots of people speculated that this would lead to Rick having some character-building moments, questioning whether the Saviors were really all bad if an old pal like Morales could be part of the group. Turns out, "It doesn't matter.
